Autumn at the Arboretum & Pumpkin Village — September, Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. Autumn at the Arboretum fills the Dallas Arboretum's gardens with more than 100,000 pumpkins, gourds, and squash from mid-September to the start of November, anchored by the nationally known Pumpkin Village display houses. The village is rebuilt around a new design theme each season. The run also includes a pumpkin and squash show and sale, printmaking and mosaic workshops, garden sketchbook journaling, and seasonal cooking classes; timed admission tickets are reserved online.
Plano Balloon Festival — September, Oak Point Park. North Texas's hot air balloon weekend at Oak Point Park, running for more than four decades. Dozens of balloons inflate and launch at dawn and again at dusk, with an evening balloon glow, a main stage, kids activities, skydivers, a fun run and fair food across four days each September.
Hall's Pumpkin Farm and Corn Maze — October, Hall's Pumpkin Farm and Corn Maze. Hall's Pumpkin Farm on Hall-Johnson Road in Grapevine opens for a short fall season starting in early October and closing in the first days of November. The pumpkin patch has scarecrow, hay bale, farm animal, and vintage tractor photo setups, and tractor-pulled hayrides let daytime riders feed the animals. The corn maze runs to more than two acres of thickly planted corn and can also be walked after dark with a flashlight; the farm is cash only.
