Annual traditions in Seattle

• Seafair Weekend — August, Genesee Park, Lake Washington. Seattle's biggest summer weekend, when hydroplanes tear across Lake Washington and the U.S. Navy Blue Angels thunder over Genesee Park. The air show anchors a shoreline festival of military demonstrations, aerobatic performers, and vintage aircraft.
• Swans Trail Farms Apple Picking — September, Swans Trail Farms. The u-pick apple orchard at this Snohomish farm holds over 4,000 apple trees and four varieties, including Jonagold and Cosmic Crisp, across five acres. Picking opens in September and the orchard closes for the season on October 31, with a Honeycrisp Apple Festival at the peak. A country store, cidery, and the farm's Fall Festival share the same grounds.
• Craven Farm Pumpkin Patch — September, Craven Farm. Craven Farm bills itself as the original pumpkin patch of Snohomish and has run a fall harvest season on Shorts School Road since 1983. Entry to the farm, the pumpkin patch, the farm shop, and the photo areas is free; a wristband adds more than ten activities including the corn maze, mini golf, and the animals, while apple cannons and paintball are sold separately. Food stands operate around the property, and barns and party rooms can be rented for birthdays.
• Bob's Corn & Pumpkin Farm — September, Bob's Corn & Pumpkin Farm. Bob's Corn & Pumpkin Farm on Elliott Road in Snohomish opens its fall season in mid-September and runs it into the first days of November. Admission covers a 12-acre corn maze, hayrides out to the u-pick pumpkin patch, ziplines, big slides, a rope maze, a trike track, a gaga ball pit, a gem mining sluice, dairy barn games, and an apple cannon aimed at farm targets. A night maze runs on selected evenings starting in early October.
• WildLanterns at Woodland Park Zoo — December, Woodland Park Zoo. Woodland Park Zoo's winter lantern festival lines its trails with glowing animal lantern displays, light installations, and an interactive zone for kids.
• Garden d'Lights — December, Bellevue Botanical Garden. Bellevue Botanical Garden glows with more than half a million lights shaped into plants, flowers, and animals in this longtime family holiday tradition.
• Bite of Seattle — July, Seattle Center. Seattle's summer food festival at Seattle Center: hundreds of food vendors, dozens of musical acts, and free admission, running since 1982.
• Seafair Torchlight Parade — July, Seattle Waterfront. Seafair's signature evening parade: illuminated floats, marching bands, drill teams, and dragon dancers along the waterfront — a Seattle summer tradition since 1950.
• Whidbey Island Fair — July, Island County Fairgrounds. A century-old island county fair in Langley: 4-H animal shows, carnival rides, live music, and a small-town Saturday parade.
• Seattle Outdoor Theater Festival — July, Volunteer Park. A free weekend of outdoor performance in Volunteer Park — a dozen-plus theater companies playing Shakespeare, family shows, and youth workshops across the lawns.
• Bellevue Family 4th — July, Bellevue Downtown Park. Bellevue's free Fourth of July festival at Downtown Park: an afternoon of family activities, food, and live music leading into the Eastside's biggest fireworks show.
